Solaris 10 – Turn Gui into text mode with dtlogin on cde

From the terminal, use :

# /etc/init.d/dtlogin stop

This command will turn your display into text mode, so you can save more server resource.

The display must be turn like this :

To turn in back into Gui mode use :

# /etc/init.d/dtlogin start

If dtlogin is not responding then you can restart it using ssh:

# /etc/init.d/dtlogin restart

To turn Text mode permanently use this :

# /usr/dt/bin/dtconfig -d

To enable Gui mode again type command:

# /usr/dt/bin/dtconfig -e

To kill dtlogin type command:

# /usr/dt/bin/dtconfig -kill
